AeroEdge Co., Ltd. (TSE: 7409, President & CEO: Jun Morinishi) and Mitsubishi HC Capital Inc. (TSE, NSE: 8593, Representative Director, President & CEO: Taiju Hisai, “Mitsubishi HC Capital”) signed “Memorandum of Understanding to Co-Create Business” (the “partnership agreement”) to pursue new business development, commercialization assessment and discussion related to Digital Transformation (“DX”) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Sustainable Transformation (“SX”) in the aviation industry.
Since the investment to AeroEdge by Mitsubishi HC Capital in July 2018(1), both companies have been discussing to expand our business conducting in the aviation industry.
AeroEdge and Mitsubishi HC Capital signed this agreement to enhance those partnership and start commercialization assessment such as DX of parts manufacturing, utilisation of the Additive Manufacturing (3D printing technology, “AM”), new materials development and recycling materials to accelerate SX and carbon neutrality, as well as engine parts repair in the aviation industry.
While integrating the global network, knowledge in the aviation industry and financial capability of Mitsubishi HC Capital and various technological abilities of AeroEdge, we will co-create new value toward the industry.
AeroEdge has been striving for R&D of new materials and component technology for aircrafts through the partnerships with domestic and international institutes, while utilizing our accumulated assets with our company philosophy “Create One from Zero”.
As our business strategies, we also promote efforts for the expansion of new mass-production business, development of new technology, and Carbon Neutral initiatives, alongside with the expansion of TiAl Blade business for next-generation aero-engines, LEAP, which are mounted on middle-sized aircrafts. With this partnership agreement, we will proactively proceed with the examination on opportunities for new material development, material recycling, and commercialization of MRO(Maintenance, Repair and Overhau) technology in the LEAP business.
Mitsubishi HC Capital has been pursuing the evolution and layering of business models to transform its business portfolio in Medium-term Management Plan for FY2023-FY2025 and the new business development is one of the pillars of medium -to long-term profit growth. Also, Corporate Transformation (CX) has been advanced through organic integration of the Business Portfolio Transformation, SX and DX. Under this partnership agreement, Mitsubishi HC Capital will encourage the Business Portfolio Transformation and pursue commercialization assessment which will create a synergy with our aviation business.
Further, we together will contribute to realizing decarbonization of the aviation industry and sustainable society through DX of aviation parts manufacturing, utilization of AM, new materials development and recycling materials to accelerate SX and carbon neutrality, as well as engine parts repair, etc.
